Meatpacking District | UBIQ New York

Meatpacking District

Once home of the slaughterhouses and one of the neighborhoods with the worst reputations in the city, the Meatpacking has gone through a true renaissance, and from the ashes of the meat distribution have risen luxury condos, fancy hotels and high end restaurants, and wealthy investors, fashion houses, and PR and prestigous law firms have taken home here. A restored waterfront, renovated lofts and converted warehouses are now to huge storefronts, a multi-level Apple store, fancy food chains, renown ball rooms and danicing floors and nightclubs.

Where Is

The Locals

A tourist haven during the day and night owl, the Meatpacking is always crawling with people. Designers, creatives and executives by day and party goers at night, you’ll see plenty of high heels, wind blown-skirts, black pants and wax-styled hair.

What's to Love

Trendy and fashion office crowds during the day, it really comes alive a night when the nightclubs light up and Ubers flow in from all over the city carrying. The ultimate party destinations, with private parties, a couple of dive bars from the seventies, rooftop bars and upscale restaurants, people come in from all over the city for a night long of fun, dancing and people-watching.

What's Not to Expect

Laid back vibe and people walking around in sweatpants. Lines are typically long everywhere on weekends.

Meatpacking District Look & Feel

Lined on the sides of the cobble stones streets, brick buildings, new glass high-rises and luxury condos squeeze next to old converted warehouses from the meat distribution era, almost impossible to see it existed deleted by the shining designer fashion storefronts and plethora of cafes and meticulously stylized restaurants. Bonu point, the top of the Standard hotel has one of the best views of the city, arguably better than midtown’s, minus the 2 hours line you get at the Top of the Rock.

Great Eats Cool Drinks & Nights Out & Entertainment

And the Hudosn River waterfront greenway is great for early mornign runs and evening strolls. While not really known for its parks, old cobble stones corners and empty street corners are full of colouful tables with chairs and umbrellas to rest after a day of shopping at the dozens of designer boutiques nearby.
